Sub: Result of the Departmental Examination for selection to the posts of
Inspectors of Posts Examination for the year 2011 held from 15th and 16th
October 2011 and Re-examination in paper III held on 29-1-2012 - case
of West Bengal circle.

I am directed to refer to your letter No. LC-1/1/12/Training of IPOs/CO/Rectt
dated 14-12-2012 wherein, the copy of the order dated 23-11-2012 of Hon’ble
CAT Calcutta Bench in OA Nos. 29/2012 and 53/2012 was forwarded to this
office.
2. Further attention of the Circle is invited to this office letter No.
A. 34013/02/2012-DE dated 4-4-2012 wherein it was intimated that, results of West Bengal
Postal Circle is withheld pending outcome/disposal of two Court cases filed in the Hon’ble CAT,
Calcutta Bench.
3. Consequent on dismissal of the Original Applications No. 29/2012 and 53/2012
filed by Jagannath Chatterjee & 9 others and Mrs. Srabani Basak respectively on 23-11-2012,
the Competent Authority has ordered for declaring the Result of IP Examination 2011
held on 15th & 16th October, 2011 and re-examination in Paper-III held on 29th January, 2012 in
respect of West Bengal Circle.
4. This Examination was held as per the revised Syllabus and Pattern Communicated
by SPB.II Section in letter No.7-14/2011-SPB.II dt. 9-3-2011 through Approved Outsourced
Agency on turnkey basis.
3. The Names of candidates declared successful for appointment as Inspector of
Posts in West Bengal Circle with vacancy position is furnished in Annexure I .
4. No candidate working on deputation in APS is qualified under relaxed standards.
5. The selection of the candidates is based on the following Eligibility Criteria for
qualifying in the examination:
OC candidates 40% marks in each paper i.e. 120/300 marks and
45% in aggregate i.e. 540/1200 marks
SC/ST candidates 33% marks in each paper i.e. 99/300 marks and
38% in aggregate i.e. 456/1200 marks
6. The Information relating to the Names of the candidates, their OMR Applications No.
Roll numbers and categories have been shown on the basis of information furnished by the
concerned Circles/Agency. The Circles are requested for verifying the details before
communicating the results and in case any discrepancy in the names and other particulars of the
candidate(s) is noticed later on, the same may please be corrected and the corrections may be
brought to the notice of this office for making necessary corrections in the relevant records.
7. In case, subsequently if it is found that any of the selected candidate(s) was not
eligible to take the examination under the extant rules or instructions on the subject for
any other reasons or in case any mistake is found with regard to announcement of the
result of any candidate for any reason whatsoever, his/her name will be deleted from the
list of successful candidates, as the case may be.
8. The Scheme of Surplus Qualified candidates for IP Examination has been
discontinued from 2011 vide letter No.A-34020/01/2007-DE dated 21.7.2011. Therefore,
the issue of declaring the list of surplus qualified candidates in this Examination does not
arise.
9 Provisional Candidates: The Heads of the Circle is requested to immediately finalize
the cases and such cases should not be kept pending for long time so that the provisional
candidates may not have to wait for the result inordinately. It may also be ensured that no
provisional candidate is given appointment under any circumstances without
regularization of their candidature and approval of the Directorate.
10 It is informed that the names of the candidates have been arranged in the order of
merit. In respect of candidates who got equal marks in the total, Circles are requested to
arrange their position in the merit list according to their inter se seniority/instructions on
the subject and intimate the same to DE/SPN Sections of the Directorate.
11. Applications under RTI Act for supply of photocopies of OMR Answer Sheets will be
entertained in the following manner:
(a) Candidates, who wish to have the copies of OMR Answer Sheets supplied, are
required to pay a fee of Rs.25/- per Paper with Key + Rs.10- towards fee for application
under RTI Act in the Post Office accounts and submit their applications through their
respective Circle Offices concerned along with the receipt for payment of fee in original.
Circle Office will prepare a consolidated list and send to the Directorate for necessary
supply. The individual applications received direct for supply of answer scripts will not be
entertained.
(b) A copy of this letter with enclosures has been uploaded on www.indiapost.gov.in.
Requests for supply of this document under RTI Act will not be entertained.
(c) The period of preservation of OMR Answer Sheets is one year from the date of
declaration of this result. Therefore, applications received after one year for supply of
photocopies of OMR Answer Sheets will not be entertained.
(d) Photocopies of OMR Answer Sheets will be supplied to the candidates only those who
have actually appeared in the Examination. Therefore, the candidates should invariably
intimate their Roll Number in the Application made under RTI.
(e) The marks of the provisionally permitted candidates for different reasons will not be
displayed in the All India Master List and the marks of those candidates cannot be
communicated until and unless their provisional candidature is regularized by the
respective Circles. This may be made clear to all the concerned.
12 The Chief Postmaster General, West Bengal circle, is requested for circulating this
result to all the concerned and also to take necessary action for their Pre-Induction Training and
all other usual formalities before the selected candidates are actually appointed as Inspector
Posts.
13. This issues with the approval of the Competent Authority.
